Amy Yoder McGloughlin was married in the time before the internet, when there were a lot less options and creative expression in weddings and receptions. The biggest flex on her big day was that she refused to wear a veil, and insisted on a coffeehouse vibe at the reception, decisions that–at the time–horrified her family. Thankfully a lot has changed in weddings since the 1990s, and Amy is happy to help make your ceremony match your couple personality!

Since becoming a pastor in 2010, she’s had the opportunity to officiate dozens of weddings–big and small, traditional and unusual, indoor and outdoor. Amy has loved each wedding she’s officiated, because they have been a beautiful celebration of two special people, committing to lifelong partnership. Amy’s wedding philosophy is that the ceremony should reflect who the couple is, along with their hopes, dreams and goals for the future. She wants to craft a service that makes sense for you, and get out of the way, so you can shine! Amy has known about Journeys of the Heart for a long time, and joins them confident in the values she shares with the organization and other officiants.

Amy grew up in South Jersey farm country, lived in Philadelphia for 25 years, and now lives in Chester County, PA, in a farmhouse with a few acres of land. She and her husband have two ornery dogs, two sheep that mow the back lawn, and 20 chickens that like to peck at Amy’s toes. She’s loved coming back to her country girl roots, but also loves that she’s just a train ride away from the city.

Amy is an ordained minister in the Mennonite Church USA, and supervises congregations and pastors in Pennsylvania and surrounding states. In her free time, Amy loves to garden and preserve the food she grows; she also enjoys making quilts for friends and family. She is a cheerleader for her adult kids, and takes the role of aunt very seriously, spoiling her nieces and nephews at every opportunity. Amy is a fan of all things Philadelphia–from the sports teams (Go Birds!) to the Green Line Cafe, to Dalessandros cheese steaks, to the Wissahickon Park and the Christmas village–she loves it all! The perfect day for Amy is either on the beach with a book, or at a plant store in Lancaster county.
