Kelly Fuddy
Kelly Fuddy: Lancaster County, Chester County, Harrisburg, York Kelly is so fascinated by how much the world has to offer that she sometimes wishes she could live several concurrent lives to follow every path that interests her in this short life. She is a Fighting Irish fan and graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where she received a BA in Anthropology and took a course in almost every other department.
Kelly and her husband Jon met at the tender ages of 17 and 20 and shared a brief three months of romance before beginning a long distance relationship that spanned the next five years. Just before the dawn of cell phones and texting, they wrote lots of love letters and used calling cards.
Kelly’s studies also took her to live in Mexico, where she had a lot of naïve adventures that now (having become a mother since) make her simultaneously worry and hope her children will someday do the same.
After brief stints in social work and law, Kelly went back to school full-time to earn her MA in religion from Lancaster Theological Seminary while she simultaneously got engaged, married, had a child, and trained to become a hospital chaplain. Jon and Kelly at long last share a zip code and the exquisite delights of parenthood.
Kelly finds the joy of weddings, commitment ceremonies and baby blessings a perfect balance to the difficult situations she often witnesses as a hospital chaplain. She loves both jobs and explains, “Whenever and wherever I’m at work, I’m with people at one of the most important, defining moments of their lives. How lucky am I?”
Kelly loves meeting people just where they are on their journeys. In all types of ceremonies, she cherishes her gift of finding the right words to capture the emotions present. She is adaptable, compassionate and delights in the unexpected. While she appreciates the wisdom in a variety of spiritual paths, her own practices including her faith community, prayer, yoga and lifelong learning.
Kelly speaks Spanish very well, and welcomes opportunities to incorporate it into ceremonies.
