David Braneky

David Braneky: Philadelphia Metropolitan Area and Entire Delaware Valley David believes that all life is sacred and that working with couples to create a wedding ceremony that reflects their love, values, hopes and dreams is profoundly enriching to their life as well as his own. He seeks to create a joyous ceremony for them and all who celebrate with them and is grateful that Journeys of the Heart provides a place where he can provide that service to such a wide variety of couples. David is also an ordained minister and serves as the pastor of a small church in Delaware County.

Dear David,

Thank you so much for being a part of our wedding to celebrate the most important day of our lives. Mike and I are thankful for your help throughout the day because it would not have been as magical as it was without you. We really appreciate all of your hard work and are very pleased with your services. You truly helped to make the evening a night to remember. Thanks again for sharing in our special day. - Joanna and Michael O'Donnell
Before enrolling in seminary, David worked at a women’s shelter in Harrisburg, PA. He met his wife, Leanne in the donut line at a conference in Philadelphia in 1999 and by lunch they were discovering their shared commitment to justice and community. Their first date was two weeks later. Leanne took David to the South Bronx as she wanted to see how this “white, Midwestern Boy” would do in the “big, bad city”. He passed her test with flying colors and two years later they tied the knot in Harrisburg, and moved to Philadelphia for graduate school. While in graduate school, they co-led cross cultural peace studies programs to South Africa.
Dear David,

We just wanted to let you know that we absolutely loved our ceremony! We can't thank you enough for adding such special touches to our ceremony. It far exceeded our expectations. Isn't it funny how things work out? We have received so many compliments about our ceremony and even more about you! Everyone thought you were great (as did we)! So we are grateful we we're able to meet you!! At least your wife will know it was worth missing part of her birthday! We are so happy you were able to perform our wedding ceremony! - Marcellino and Nichelle
David and Leanne share a home with their rescue pets, nine-year-old Yellow Lab, Buddy and cat, Beatrice. In 2006 they bought and rehabbed a row home in Philadelphia. They attempted to use green practices and locally-sourced materials wherever possible and the result includes a white roof, natural clay plaster, dual flush toilet and low VOC (volatile organic compound) paint throughout. If you step out their back door, you’ll discover “Pastor’s Produce,” David’s mini-farm that he recently launched as part of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s City Harvest Community Growers Alliance, http://www.pennsylvaniahorticulturalsociety.org/phlgreen/current-communitygardens.html whose goal is to increase the supply of locally and organically grown produce in Philadelphia, especially in low income communities.>
Dear David,

Our sincerest apologies for taking some time to reach out, but as newlyweds, we've been a little busy. We wanted to let you know just how much we appreciate everything you did for us. The wedding ceremony that you created & officiated for us was absolutely wonderful. We truly couldn't have asked for a more perfect day, and thank you for being one of the most important parts of it. We wish you all the best & thank you so much, - Tullio & Jessica
In his (too little) spare time, David, an avid sports fan, especially enjoys cheering on the Phillies. He enjoys the distinction of being the first Journeys of the Heart officiant to preside at a wedding ceremony on home plate at Citizens Bank Park. He also enjoys running, reading, baking and watching his favorite T.V. programs, especially Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Daily Show. However, in late summer and through the fall, those interests are put on hold as he spends his time “putting-up” for the winter jams, pizza sauces and salsas using his beloved Grandmother Emily’s canning equipment.

Jen and Bill

“It has been close to three years since we were married. I want to reach back and extend our thanks and appreciation for being part of our day and truly making it unique. When we think back to our day, our vows, our ceremony - our hearts are still warmed by its one-of-a-kind essence. Our wedding day was unforgettable.”
